Hunger Doesn’t Take The Weekend Off, Neither Do Our Volunteers

066How difficult is it to make sure every child in Horry Co. has something to eat at home and a gift to receive on their birthday?  We'll let you know when we get there.  We are currently meeting these basic needs for over 1,000 local children every week.  You can bet serving every child will be a monumental task.  However, we plan to get there by helping one more child at time. 

So how difficult is it for us to serve one more child?  Not hard at all, if you are willing to help.

SCBT

SCBT Banks both in Myrtle Beach and Murrells Inlet collected food and donated money to Back Pack Buddies. We thank them so much for their generosity and kindness.

 

Pelicans

Pelicans are giving a discount on tickets for bringing Back Pack Buddies food ,We are so excited to have  them as a partner.

Miss Myrtle Beach Joyce Mitchel  is using Back Pack Buddies as her platform. She is a wonderful  girl and such a good role model.Pelicans 2Joyce

Our food drive at Walmart was a huge success! We filled the van!!! (estimated value around $8000!)

We also raised about $300 in cash.
It was a pleasure meeting so many nice people willing to give their time to this wonderful cause. We have one food drive scheduled every month through Sept. I will send an email out soon with those dates.
We are hoping as our volunteer base grows, we can do shorter shifts, but please feel free to volunteer even if you only can do a couple of hours.
We also are looking for “young” volunteers to load the van.
I am attaching pictures of the food in the van in case you didn’t see it.

Birthday Angel for the kids !!!!

DSC03804[1]Thanks to Angelina who had her birthday party and had friends bring items for Back Pack Buddies instead of gifts for her. How great is that !!! She presented all the gifts and food to me at office on Wednesday. She told me she is going to do the same next year. We Thank Her so much for caring about hungry children. What an impressive young lady.
